"Huck" releases 6-point plan
to "Grow Michigan Now"

Mike "Huck" Huckleberry, candidate for the open 70th State House seat, has released a six-point economic and political plan to help Michigan.

Marking the 100th Day before the Nov. 4 election, "Huck" sent his plan to political leaders in Lansing today. "I want everyone in state government to know that we are bringing a strong agenda with us to the Capital," Huckleberry emphasized. "We've taken this Plan with us door-to-door throughout Montcalm and Ionia Counties and the feedback we're receiving is tremendously supportive."

"Huck" actually unveiled the plan at the Ionia Free Fair Democratic Party Dinner July 23rd and has since delivered it on a radio program as well. The printed plan will first be distributed at the Greenville candidates' night on Thursday, July 31st.
(A complete version of the Plan is available now on www.mikehuckleberry.com.)

"While it's reported that the six Republicans on the ballot for the 70th State House seat are busy taking shots at each other, our campaign is simply moving ahead with the pertinent issues for voters throughout Montcalm and Ionia Counties," Huckleberry explained. "These economic and political points will be on the front burner for Democratic, Republican and Independent voters alike on Nov. 4."

Huckleberry has passed the 11,000 homes mark in his door-to-door efforts --even though he has no Aug. 5 primary election opposition. In addition to the homes, the Greenville restaurant owner - civic leader has called on more than 800 businesses in the two counties which make up the 70th District.

Mike Huckleberry's Plan:
            GROW MICHIGAN NOW !

1. Stop the partisan bickering and fighting! It's OK to be a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent… but we're all Americans first. Let's get the job done in Lansing!
I pledge to serve "we the people," not my party or special interests.

2. We must provide a "world class" education to compete in a Global Economy with 21st Century JOBS!
Underfunding education is like eating our seed corn.

3. Renewable Energy has potential NOW!  -- especially in our Montcalm-Ionia region of Michigan.
I will continue to fight to bring these JOBS! and economic stability to our Community and State.

4. We must solve the Health Care crisis. People are dying because our current system and our economy can't compete.
I will work with all parties to achieve a Michigan solution we can live with - especially for our children.

5. By Reforming Michigan Government NOW!, we can expand voter rights, save money and eliminate waste.
I will vote "Yes" on this initiative and will lead by example. (State House salaries will be rolled back.)

6. A complete rethinking/overhaul of Michigan's taxation and fees structure should begin NOW! to re-tool the state's long-term economic stability.
We can help businesses grow and create/protect JOBS! if we tax fairly and spend wisely.

Thanks to all who came out to show their support at this event

"It's time to get somebody on the side
of Montcalm and Ionia in Lansing for a change!"

With that promise, community activist and small-business owner Mike "Huck" Huckleberry has thrown his hat into the ring for 70th District State Representative.

Huckleberry, 59, has been a bi-partisan leader in the fight to retain and attract jobs in the region. "Our future is bright here, but only if we work together to get past partisan bickering.

"We can grow 21st Century jobs in Montcalm, Ionia and all of Michigan by working together," Huck said. "Jobs in renewable energy, agriculture and education-re-training should be encouraged now.

"I've proven I work well with everyone - Republicans and Democrats, city folks and farmers, shopkeepers and the owners and workers at big companies too," Huckleberry said. "I'll take that spirit of bi-partisanship to Lansing."

Huckleberry is a lifelong resident of the Montcalm-Cedar Springs region. He rose to national prominence with his leadership against Electrolux's abandonment of 2,800 jobs in Greenville. In that fight, Huck worked with local officials, Gov. Jennifer Granholm, UAW and AFL-CIO leaders and rank-and-file attempting to dissuade the company from slinking off to Mexico.

That activism inspired Huck to run for U.S. Congress in 2004 and 2006 where his "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!" campaign caught the attention of the national media -- like TV newshost Lou Dobbs. His restaurateur background and nationally-famous "placemat campaign" won him the support of many Republicans and Independents, although Huck ran as a Democrat.

Alternative
          and Renewable Energy

"Michigan's geography and climate make us well-suited to develop energy generation which is good for the environment, good for jobs and for agriculture. And the 70th District - Montcalm and Ionia Counties - are especially well-positioned," notes Mike "Huck" Huckleberry.

"As we grow ethanol, wind, solar and water energy in our region, Montcalm and Ionia will be called Michigan's GREEN counties!" Huck points out.
